Kondinin Group - The Business case for Carbon Farming

The Australian Government’s original Carbon Farming Initiative (CFI)—which enabled farmers to earn Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) through carbon farming—commenced in 2011. This scheme has now been folded into the Emissions Reduction Fund (ERF).

From 12 December, the rules governing the CFI have changed with the passage of the Carbon Farming Initiative Amendment Act 2014. This expands the CFI into other sectors of the economy and implements the government’s ERF, which will be used to purchase carbon abatement.
